A chance to sample the bold flavors of independence
40 restaurants, 7 days of original menus: mARCH 8–14
COLUMBUS, OH — January 21, 2010 — The highly anticipated Dine Originals Week will be held March 8–14, 2010, featuring creative fixed-price menus for $10.10, $20.10, or $30.10* from its roster of 40 member restaurants. Besides offering diners extraordinary food at reasonable rates, this event, held twice a year, also serves as a celebration of the rich local dining scene. The event comes a year after Dine Originals held Columbus’s first such restaurant week, which saw about a 30 percent increase in sales at the restaurants; a similar event in the fall was also successful, with some restaurateurs noting packed houses every night and people coming in from out of town to take advantage of the special menus.
Menus for Dine Originals Week will be posted at www.dineoriginalscolumbus.com as they become available.
Notes Kamal Boulos, president of Dine Originals Columbus and the owner of the nationally recognized Refectory, “This event is back by popular demand. Guests are energized by the creative menus and the reasonable prices—especially in this economy—which inspires them to visit a place they’ve never tried or return to an old favorite. Dine Originals restaurants see an uptick in traffic during the week, including plenty of new faces. It’s also a week to celebrate and support the wonderful array of acclaimed, independently owned restaurants in this city.”
In keeping with Dine Originals’ mission to also be good community partners and to “give back,” a portion of the proceeds from Dine Originals Columbus Week will be contributed to the children’s education programs of Local Matters, a nonprofit organization devoted to promoting access to local food, advocating for fair food policies, and other related causes (www.local-matters.org).

Other upcoming events include the signature annual event Taste of Dine Originals at Smith Brothers on Thursday, May 13, 2010, followed by a fall Dine Originals Week, as well as the quarterly release of popular restaurant-specific discount gift certificates (the next release date is January 29; details will be posted on the dineoriginalscolumbus.com site).
